Saki Kawakita is from Hyogo , Japan . Trained in jazz, tap, modern, ballet, ballroom, and Japanese
traditional dance,  she came to the US to study Performing Arts at Southern Utah University and
graduated with a BA in Dance Education and  the honor of Outstanding Graduate of 2008.  Saki served
two years as an Arts & Entertainment delegate in the student association, as president of Orchesis
Modern Dance Company and as a member of the Ballroom Dance Company.  
  Saki is a recipient of  many scholarships and academic awards, including the Who’s Who National
Honor Program, the San Christopher Scholarship, and the Michael Leavitt Scholarship.    Seeking to
expand her experiences in Arts Management and Business, in 2008 Saki worked at the Kennedy
Center in Washington DC as program assistant for 'Exploring Ballet with Suzanne Farrell’.  She is
currently on staff at The Washington Ballet as DanceDC  Director  and during this time has taught more
than 1,000 students in both conservatory and outreach programs.   Saki joined the Ballet Studio staff in
2008. She     teaches Teen/Adult Ballet and Jazz, as well as Pre Primary classes for children ages 6-11
