Intro to Dance – Jazz/Ballet ages 6-10 45 min
This combination dance class teaches the fundamentals of both ballet and jazz
dance. It is designed to introduce students to ballet technique while also providing a
broader avenue of expression through the addition of musical theatre and jazz
dance styles. Attire: Leotard, jazz pants or tights and jazz or ballet shoes. Performance
opportunities: Returning Students perform in the Delray Arts on the Avenue celebration. All
students participate in the end of year recital.
Beginning Jazz ages 9-11 45min
This jazz class teaches the fundamentals of a Jazz dance warm up which includes
jazz isolations, the basic dance patterns of center work, plus turns and jumps.
Contemporary music adds to the fun and keeps students moving as they are
introduced to Broadway, movie musical, video, and hip-hop dance styles. Attire:
Leotard, jazz pants or tights and jazz shoes. Performance opportunities: Returning Students
perform in the Delray Arts on the Avenue celebration. All students participate in the end of year
recital.
Jazz Intermediate ages 11+ 1hr
Pre requisite for this class is Beginning Jazz or prior dance experience w/ instructor approval.
This high energy class includes an advance level jazz warm up and ballet technique
for jazz dancers. The class provides upper level choreography that encompasses
Broadway, music video, hip-hop and modern jazz dance styles. Attire: Leotard, jazz
pants or tights and jazz shoes. Performance opportunities: Returning students participate in Arts
on the Avenue. All students participate in the end of year recital.
