Pre Ballet                 ages 6-9                  
Pre requisite for new students ages 5&6 is Introduction to Dance - Ballet.

Using a preprimary ballet curriculum, this class provides an introduction to ballet vocabulary, barre and center
practice specifically designed for the school-aged beginner.  The curriculum for this multi-year course allows
young dancers to experience ballet at their own pace.
Pre Ballet utilizes props and simple costuming to encourage and stimulate the imagination through dance. Skill-
based, age appropriate ballet choreography will build technique, develop musicality and promote confidence as
students learn to use dance as a form of positive and creative self-expression.
Attire: Girls: Pink Cap-Sleeve Leotard, pink FOOTLESS tights and pink ballet slippers. Boys: White short-sleeve t-
shirt, black shorts or dance pants, white socks and black ballet shoes.
Performance opportunities: Returning students may audition to perform in the Delray Arts on the Avenue
celebration (10/11). All students participate in the end of year recital    

Ballet I:                        ages 7+                                           
Pre requisite for new students age 7  is PreBallet.  Students age 8 & 9 w/instructor approval.

For the beginning dancer with prior early childhood training -- or those age 9+ who are just starting out -- this
class reviews and further develops ballet vocabulary, barre technique and basic concepts of rhythm. Designed
as a multi-year course, both verbal instruction and practical application of ballet skills demonstrate proper body
alignment and carriage of the upper torso, correct use of turnout, and the fundamentals of port de bra
presentation. Center practice encourages students to match movement to music through age appropriate study
of classical, lyrical and contemporary ballets.
Attire: Girls: Pink or Black Tank Leotard, pink footed tights and pink ballet slippers. No dance skirts. Boys: White
short-sleeve t-shirt, black shorts or dance pants, white socks and black ballet shoes. Performance
opportunities: Returning students may audition to perform in the Delray Arts on the Avenue celebration (10/11).
All students participate in the end of year recital.

Ballet II   ages 9+
Pre requisite - Ballet I or the equivalent training.

For dancers age 9 with 3+ years training in ballet, or the beginning dancer age 11+,  this class includes a review
of ballet basics and quickly moves beyond the fundamentals to a secondary focus on ballet technique that will
develop and improve flexibility and strength. Center practice challenges students to apply their skills in course
work that includes adagio, jumps and turns plus classical, lyrical and contempory ballet variations designed for
the advance beginner dancer.
Attire: Girls: Black Tank Leotard, white tights and pink ballet slippers. Boys: White short sleeve t-shirt, shorts,
socks and black ballet shoesPerformance opportunities: Returning students may audition to perform in the
Delray Arts on the Avenue celebration (10/11). All students participate in the end of year recital

Ballet III
Pre requisite - Ballet II or the equivalent training.

Comprehensive Barre, and Center Practice are the focus of this upper level ballet class. Emphasis is placed on
ballet technique that promotes improved muscle memory, precise use of feet and turnout, and mastery of pre
pointe fundamentals. Center practice challenges students to apply advance skills in course work that includes
adagio, jumps, turns and classical variations designed for the advanced dancer.
Attire: Black Pinch front leotard, light pink tights and pink ballet slippers. Performance opportunities: Returning
Students perform in the Delray Arts on the Avenue celebration (10/11). All students participate in the end of year
recital.

Teen/Adult Adv. Ballet
Placement at this level is determined by the instructor and based on an individual assessment.

This Level II advance ballet class is designed for students with 5+ years of extensive study. The class includes
advance barre and center floor exercises that build strength, increased flexibility, and promote fluidity of
movement.  Center practice includes upper level adagio and allegro combinations, jumps, turns and classical
ballet variations.
Teen/Adult Adv. Ballet – Pointe
Pointe class is offered only to students who also enroll in Teen Advance Ballet. Adult students who wish to take
Pointe must also attend the Teen/Adult Advance Ballet -- whether enrolled for the full semester or taking a Drop-
in class (prior instructor approval required).  Students may not attend Pointe as a singular class without the
permission of the instructor.
